Hostage takers may have any of a number of different motivations.

Some act impulsively, using other humans as shields or bargaining chips to try to avoid the consequences of their actions.

Other hostage takers might be politically or ideologically motivated.

The role of a hostage negotiator is to resolve the situation peacefully, saving the lives of the hostages and the law enforcement or military personnel charged with taking the hostage takers into custody.

Our instructors are skilled in hostage negotiation and can teach these skills to law enforcement and military, as well as other professionals who might have need of them.
